BIM in HVAC design: what it changes on site

When ventilation, heating and cooling are modelled in three dimensions, most clashes are resolved before construction even starts.
We model HVAC in a BIM environment because it exposes early what two-dimensional drawings hide: crossings with load-bearing structures, insufficient height above ceilings, and service zones that are unreachable in practice.
The model also becomes a shared language between the structural, electrical and controls disciplines. We run clash detection continuously during design rather than only at the end, which makes changes cheaper and faster.
During construction the same model supports author supervision — questions about installation sequence and equipment placement can be answered immediately, referring to a specific room and level.
